Can Foreign Students Work Whilst Studying At The Academy?
Yes. International students are allowed to work 20 hours during term time and full
time hours during holidays. International students applying from overseas must be
able to demonstrate that they have sufficient money to pay for their costs without
resorting to employment in the UK.
|
Can Tuition Fees Be Paid With A Credit Card?
Yes, but this must be made in person at the Academy.
|
Does The Academy Offer Scholarships?
No. However in certain situations we do offer discounts in course fees to students
who are performing well, as an incentive. These discounts can be significant but
are only valid after the first semester of studies. Please contact us to find out
whether your chosen course is one where discounts can be given.
|
What Are The Minimum Entry Requirements?
This varies course to course, but generally Diploma and first year degree courses
are open to those who have 2 A-Levels or equivalent. It is also possible for students
to enter directly onto the second or final year of a degree course if they can show
that they have equivalent qualifications. Masters degree courses are generally only
open to those who have a bachelors degree. See individual courses for the relavent
entry requirements.
|
Can I Get Exemptions To My Intended Course?
Yes. This also results in a reduction in tuition fees. Exemptions are only dealt
with once the student has successfully secured a visa to the UK and arrived at the
Academy to start the course. The examining body or University has the last word
on whether a student is eligible for exemptions.
|
Why Do International Students Need To Pay A Deposit?
By paying a deposit, the Academy is confident in the knowledge that the applicant
can afford to pay the necessary tuition fees and is genuinely interested in pursuing
the course. Also immigration officers like to see tuition fees paid in advance because
it shows that the student genuinely intends to follow the course.
|
Will My Tuition Fee Be Refunded If My Visa Is Not Successful?
Yes but only on receipt of the original refusal letter. Your fees will be refunded
minus £100 for administration costs.
|
Can The Academy Contact
an Embassy Or High Commission To Help You?
No. The only information that the Embassy is interested in, is that stated on the
visa letter issued by the Academy. It is unlikely that a British Embassy or High
Commission will dispute this information.
The visa issuing authorities have such a large amount of work to do and their own
procedures, in place that they do not appreciate educational institutes contacting
them on behalf of their students. This can actually damage your application rather
than help it.
|
Can I Pay My Fees In
Instalments?
Yes. Provided you are a resident of the UK and / or have a student visa. If you
need to apply for a student visa it is best to pay a years fees in advance to show
that you genuinely intend to study.
The instalments option is made available to you once you arrive to the Academy for
enrolment. Instalments can be made in either monthly or quarterly instalments.
|
How Do I Pay My Fees
To The Academy If I Am Not In The UK?
Fees can be paid in three forms; bank draft, cheque or by crediting the Academy’s
account with the payment. When sending payments by bank transfer please use your
name as the reference number.
|
What Happens If I Am Late For A Course?
We allow students to start up to two weeks after a published semester date. But
you are required to confirm with the Academy whether they will accept you late onto
your course, if the answer is yes, you will need to have a letter confirming late
arrival. This is to ensure that you meet the minimum attendance percentage to participate
in examinations. Also Home Office regulations stipulate that students must have
a minimum attendance of 80%.
By arriving late you will be missing some of your lectures. The lectures missed
will not be repeated for you even though you have a late arrival letter.
|
How Long Will It Take To Process My Application?
Most applications are dealt with, within 72 hours as long as we have all the necessary
paperwork attached. The postal service in your home country will determine how long
the acceptance letters will take to be delivered.
|
Are Exam Fees Included In The Tuition Cost Of My Course?
Generally yes, but for some courses this may not be the case. You will normally
be told if this applies to you. If possible please confirm during application whether
this is true for your course.
|
How Many Lectures Will I Have Each Week?
This varies according to the course but all courses at LSBC comply with immigration
regulations that state international students should have at least 15 hours of structured
learning each week. In fact we generally ensure that you are studying 21 hours per
week.
|
Do I Need To Pay For Accommodation Before Arrival To The
UK?
Yes. This is to confirm that you are genuinely seeking Academy found accommodation.
You will need to pay two months rent in advance, of which one months rent will be
a deposit and the other will pay the rent. On arrival to the UK you are obliged
to reside in the accommodation offered, for a minimum of one month. If you wish
to change your accommodation, than you are most welcome to but only after the first
month.
|
What Happens During Enrolment?
This takes place on your first visit to the Academy, where we register you as having
reported to the Academy. We check you academic documents and re-confirm eligibility
for chosen course. We also take a copy of your visa, to confirm that you have legally
entered the UK. Your deposit payment is confirmed and the payment of the remaining
fees is discussed. If required, an instalment schedule is set up for the payment
of tuition fees. Letters, student ID and discount applications are also provided.
